MYTH

If you want results in fitness, you have to be a frequenter of gyms.

 FACT

How many gym-frequenters do you know that are really fit? Personally not many!

On the contrary I know some people that despite having never stepped foot in a gym they are perfectly fit.

Most gym “visitors” spend their time in:

- observation

- socialization

- fruitless and ineffective workouts.

Conversely those who:

- have clear objectives

- perform tailor-made hard workouts from which they won’t deviate

- are focused, committed to their goals and give their maximum effort

can achieve remarkable results with no more than 3 short – 60’ – visits per week.

If you have a balanced diet and an active lifestyle that’s more than enough.

MYTH

To become fit you need a gym and/or expensive equipment.

 FACT

The most important pillar of fitness is neither exercise nor nutrition:

It is self motivation!

Self motivated people won’t need a gym and won’t need any expensive equipment.

Self motivation is a state of mind very crucial to fulfilling your objectives and achieving the desirable results.

Self motivated people make predictions for themselves that become self fulfilling – prophecies and they are made, not born.

There are tenths of ways and workouts to become fit even if you use your home as a gym.

Actually, if you are self motivated, you can exercise yourself everywhere: outdoors, at home, in a hotel etc.

Some ideas for home exercise:

- Total body workouts performed in circuits are great fat burners.

You will have to mix exercises for your upper body, lower body and your core: squats, lunges, push ups etc.

- Weight lifting with a pair of humble dumbbells (adjustable are better).

With practically no money, minimal time investment and equipment and a lot of self motivation, you can achieve admirable fitness results.

MYTH

If you look fit, you are fit!

 TRUTH

It’s true that some people achieve a noteworthy physique with a combination of resistance training and a relatively meticulous diet. Could such a guy contend that he’s fit? Rather not and the reasons for this are:

* these people very often neglect their most important muscle: their heart and by extension their cardiovascular system. Problems pertaining to oxygen intake, transport and management will bring fatigue and relative weakness to perform workouts and duties stressful for the heart.

* They also neglect the flexibility factor! They never include stretching in their workout routines! Stretching is a must for the elasticity of muscles and a comfortable muscle tone.

People that do not stretch enough – and in a right way – have problems with their range of motion, problems that aggravate as time passes.

Conclusion: To be regarded as fit you need except for good physique to possess:

- strength

- speed

- endurance

- muscle elasticity – max range of motion.

FICTION

The best hour for physical exercise is x…

REALITY

There is no specific time zone of the day in which physical exercise might be more effective.

Different hours suit better different people. Some people are clearly morning guys while others prefer afternoon hours even late evening.

Don’t buy into the morning / empty stomach myth. Morning exercising – especially real tough workouts – could have strongly catabolic effects!

Keep your precious muscles as the apple of your eyes!

It’s on you to choose the most convenient exercise time!

FICTION

I am exercising systematically for years but I see no result. Maybe it has to do with my genetics?

REALITY

Genetics could play some roll but you can overcome it. You will just need a little more effort. It’s you that will decide your fate, otherwise it would be like you admitted “fate ordered…otherwise!”. Nonsense!

It’s clear that most of the times you are a victim of positive caloric balance, simply you eat too much!

It’s a shame that people who exercise really hard throw their tough efforts out of the window because they cannot estimate the caloric value of what they eat.

Additionally there is a pervasive attitude among the fitness enthusiasts that when you exercise really hard, you can eat to your wish.

It’s hard to realize that a tough 60’ workout has a caloric value equivalent to 100gr of peanuts – accompanying that relaxing whisky glass – or a cruel 20’ H.I.I.T. program can be offset by two medium cookies!

Some people would be astonished to learn these unfortunate facts!

Conclusion: Learn to calculate – even roughly – the caloric value and the quantities of foods you consume. If you eat a lot, you will gain weight despite your copious exercising efforts.

FICTION

With x scientifically welldocumented diet you will be in the position to…

REALITY

Statistically it has been proven that nearly all diets fail. A lot of people backslide into a fatter me!

The only viable solution is a change in your lifestyle. You have to work on your mentality, to cultivate your self motivation and self discipline. Try to adopt – at all costs – the three following habits:

1) Set clear, tangible and concrete objectives and aim at their fulfillment. Work strongly on the mental part. Do your mental training!

2) Nutrition

Forget processed foods that you can find in boxes, packets and tins. Eat real unprocessed foods without loads of white sugar, salt and hydrogenated fats. These are real killers!

Your nutritional base should be:

- premium class protein from real food

- vegetables at your will plus some fruits

- good fats as monounsaturated and omega3

- ample water.

3) Finally, try to be consistent with your exercising program.

Forget long, boring cardio and adopt:

- weight training circuits

- total body workout circuits

- H.I.I.T. and especially sprinting.

These will rev up your metabolism.

Good luck!

Many have a dream of a creative writing career. You may dream of writing the great American novel, or becoming the next Poe. If you are serious about becoming a writer, there are several things you should do and keep in mind.

Write everyday as much as you can.

Writing is not like riding a bike. If you stop writing and go back to it 5 years later, you probably won’t be nearly as good, let alone better. If you want to become a great writer you have to practice all the time. That means everyday. That means setting a certain amount of time to write everyday. Stop right now, check your calendar, and right in a time for everyday that you will write.

Write creatively, not like a high school essay.

You probably hated writing essays in school. They told you to have an introduction paragraph, the body, and the conclusion. Then they said to do the same with each paragraph. Don’t use I and sound really boring. Okay, they might not have said that, but generally, most essays sounded very formal. If you enjoyed writing unique, creative essays, then you are on the right track. I’m not saying to forget everything you’ve learned about writing, I’m just saying that creative writing is much less formal. You want to engage your writer and keep them interested. Don’t let boring monotony kill your story!

Edit your work over and over.

I have come across some people’s writing that was just awful. It was a good story and may have had potential, but it was very poorly written and seemed as though they wrote it once and never looked at it again. If you are writing a piece that you are serious about, especially if you want to publish it, you need to make sure that it is perfect. Print it up, if possible, and read through it a few days after you wrote it. Analyze it and make sure it’s perfect. Then have someone else that you trust go through it as well.

Don’t give up!

For me, writing has always been my dream. I write all the time and I’ve always wanted to be a successful writer. People are always telling me that I am a great writer. If you want to succeed, you can’t give up. Just keep writing and trying to accomplish what you want to accomplish. If you want to publish a novel, do whatever you can to do it.

Write your novel and edit it until you feel it’s perfect. Have a few trusted friends read it and give you some constructive criticism. Send out some query letters to agents and do everything you can to get it published. If you get some poor reactions and you feel like the novel won’t work decide if you feel like it really is good enough to publish and self-publish it, if not, move onto the next novel.

Don’t stop doing what you love. If you really want to succeed, giving up is the worst way to do it. Keep writing and editing, writing and editing, and you just may accomplish your dreams!

Do you really want to be successful writer? Follow these creative writing tips and find out more at ExpressitinWords.com. Follow your dreams and accomplish your writing goals.

You launch a new small business blog, and then writer’s block kicks in. What to do? Here are some tips to help you with ideas for new posts to your blog. Your blog writing style does not have to be textbook perfect, so informal writing is suitable as long as you check grammar and spelling. It’s okay to entertain as you provide information, too. Visitors will not expect literary works suitable for a Nobel prize when you create blog posts, so relax.

Write short paragraphs and cover one aspect of what you present in each. Visitors want information quickly; so long paragraphs should be avoided. Short posts of 1-2 paragraphs are fine, too. Most website content is quickly scanned, so headlines and the first few words of each paragraph may be all that most visitors view before deciding to read details, or exit.

Include key words relative to your subject, and place some near the beginning of sentences for each paragraph, so your visitors get the general feel as they scan your post. Search engines will visit and index your blog content, too, so key words are important for attracting the search engine crawlers.

Google Alerts and blog labels are two techniques to help you generate new blog post ideas. Each will be presented in the report Blog Your Way to Fresh Content from my series of free PDF SEO Reports about do-it-yourself small business website promotion that I began to release during 2007. Some of my clients could not wait, so this article is a preview of how to use these two techniques to come up with post ideas for your blog:

1. Google Alerts is a free service that delivers links to content by email. Once set up, you automatically receive a collection of current news stories or related content by email with summaries and links to the information.

2. Your blog labels are the filing system for your blog that cross references your posts by subject category, so visitors may click a label and view all posts about that subject on one page. Use them to brainstorm ideas for posts.

Google Alerts

Search for Google Alerts to find the main page, and then sign up for a Google account if you don’t have one. You don’t need an account to use alerts, but managing your choices is more convenient from one page, and creating, editing, or deleting alerts will be easier.

To begin you create individual alerts for search words or phrases relative to your business, and then your options are type and how often. Type means the source, and the selections are from news, the web, blogs, groups, and comprehensive (all). The how often is the frequency of emails you receive from Google and include once a day, as it happens, and once a week.

Once you create the alert, emails arrive automatically with lists of sources for content related to your selected subject, and a summary of each. Follow the links of interest, and perhaps you will decide to write about the same subject with a different slant. Never copy another author’s content verbatim or claim it as your original writing. That would be plagiarism. However, quoting other sources is acceptable, and snippets or excerpts are often all you need.

Write an introduction about the piece you will quote, and then give credit to the author including a hyperlink to the source. Next, make sure you are in HTML mode and begin the excerpt with blockquote and italics tags, insert their content using copy and paste, and finally add the closing blockquote and italics tags. View your help files if the [blockquote] or and then [/blockquote] and are unfamiliar (Note: The [ and ] square brackets must be replaced with , so don’t take my example literally). This formatting will indent their snippet in your post and display the text in italics to make everything stand out as content quoted from another source.

Finally, write a closing paragraph with your take or opinion on the subject matter, and you’re done. Again, your posts do not have to be lengthy, so the opening introduction and closing comments or opinion can each be one paragraph. Busy visitors are more likely to read your content and bookmark your site for return visits if your style is interesting and brief.

Blog Labels

The labels you assign to your posts allow cross referencing of information, and they are another source for brainstorming new post ideas. After all, your labels provide a snapshot of the overall theme of your blog. A review of your list of labels may uncover subjects that are overdue for a new post while alerts make you aware of topical subjects. Reviewing the labels that define your blog allows you to enhance emphasis by writing about what your small business is really all about.

Bonus Tip: Visit technorati.com and near the upper right is a “tag cloud” which displays key words and phrases that represent what the majority of people worldwide have written recently. The most popular tags are displayed in very large text, with others decreasing in size based on total posts tagged with that word or phrase. If you find words that relate to your business, click the tag to see what others are writing, or just start your post and run with it.

Compare physical exercise to writing posts for your small business blog, and each requires discipline. Both are easy to avoid without feeling guilty, yet the benefits are certainly important to your health, personal and business. A large percentage near 25% of all new blogs go offline in less than 90 days. One reason is the lack of fresh content. Use these tips for keeping your posts short and to the point, utilize Google Alerts, and do a review of your blog labels to easily come up with new ideas for posting to your blog.

Nearly everyone over 30 years old sees wrinkles, loose skin and other signs of facial aging staring back at them in the mirror. Many would like to have a fresher younger looking face but no one wants to have plastic surgery. In recent years technological advances such as Botox®, Restylane®, Radiesse®, and new Lasers, IPL and skin tightening machines like Thermage®, Titan®, LuxIR®, and Aluma®, have improved the plastic surgeons ability to rejuvenate the face non-surgically, but none have been able to deliver the often promised “non-surgical face-lift.” The best results have achieved about a 30 % tightening of the facial skin. Dramatic results have been achieved in “wrinkle removal” when proper techniques have been applied, but true lifting or tightening of the facial skin has been modest at best

The new LaserLyte Liftâ?¢ promises to achieve a much more significant rejuvenation and lifting of the face with a new non-surgical multi-modality technique three phase procedure which not only tightens the facial skin but also removes wrinkles and other aging changes on the surface of the skinâ??all achieved non-surgically with minimal or no down time.

This new non-surgical high tech procedure is based on the theory that all of the skin layers must be treated and rejuvenated to accomplish true facial rejuvenation and is based on the principles of the 6-step facial rejuvenation program® outlined in my book “Save Your Face-The Revolutionary 6-Step Facial Rejuvenation Program.

The important changes in the facial skin which lead to an aged appearance occur predominantly in 3 layers-the epidermis or outer layer that you see in the mirror, and two deeper layers-the superficial and the deep dermisâ??the pink part of your skin you see when you scrape your knee.

As we age, the sun’s UV rays, and other age related factors damage all 3 layers of the skin. We see these changes in the form of wrinkles, brown spots and dry skin-changes in the Epidermis or outer layer. However the major changes causing wrinkles and sagging skin is damage to the 2 deeper layers of the dermis.

The result of aging changes in both layers of the dermis is the loss of collagen. Collagen plumps the skin and gives the skin its tone and elasticity. When we lose collagen from the dermis the skin loses volume and becomes wrinkled-the same way a plum turns into a prune when it loses water after drying. In addition when we lose collagen we lose elasticity, the skin does not snap back when we pull on it and release it, and the skin sags.

The key to non-surgical facial rejuvenation or a non-surgical face-lift is to remove the superficial aging changes form the superficial epidermis and restore new collagen and thus volume and elasticity to both the superficial and deep layers of the dermis

Contemporary non-surgical methods such as laser, IPL, Radiofrequency (Aluma®, Thermage®), and Infrared (LuxIR®, Titan®,) energies are capable of treating the surface of the skin and the deep dermis, but do not treat the middle layer of the dermis and thus cannot achieve complete non-surgical rejuvenation or a non-surgical face-lift.

New technology has finally enabled us to treat the middle skin layer-the upper dermis and stimulate new collagen regeneration in this layer using a 1540 fractionated erbium laser made by Palomar, with minimal or no down time. Thus we are now able to treat all three skin layers affected by aging, removing surface irregularities such as wrinkles, brown spots, and dry skin, and restoring collagen and thus plumping volume and elasticity to the middle and deep skin layers.

Thus we can achieve a true non-surgical facial rejuvenation or non-surgical face-lift for the first time addressing all three layers of the aged skin.

This procedure is called the LaserLyte Liftâ?¢ because Laser and other forms of light (lyte) energy are used to treat the three skin layers. The procedure takes time, as it requires multiple treatments scheduled several weeks apart over a time course of several months. However the results are striking-you can see them and believe themâ??you don’t have to try to convince yourself that they are there as you have with so many “miracle wrinkle cures” you have tried in the past.

The LaserLyte Liftâ?¢ involves three treatment protocols or phases.

Phase I begins with the important first 2 steps of the 6-step program®, deep exfoliation and stimulation of new collagen growth near the surface of the skin. This phase removes wrinkles, brown spots and restores the skins shiny glow. This is the LaserLyte Peel® achieved with the Lumenis Active Fx laser. This peel is performed with a topical skin anesthetic, takes 25 minutes, and leaves you pink for 4-5 days. Some people only need one peel others may need 2 or 3.These peels are scheduled 6-8 weeks apart.

Phase II-which is painless and involves no down time begins about 4weeks after your first LaserLyte Peel and is the start of your skin tightening regimen through stimulation of new collagen growth in the deep dermal layer by the application of Infrared or other energy which penetrates through the epidermis and superficial dermis to the deep dermis, to restore collagen and elasticity and tighten the facial skin. Treatments are spaced 4 weeks apart and at least 4 sessions are required.

The start of Phase III, mid dermal collagen stimulation, which involves no pain and minimal pinkness for a few hours only, using the 1540 or similar effective wavelength starts at a variable timetable depending on how many LaserLyte Peels you need. If you only need one peel Phase 3 can begin as early as 2-3 months and be alternated with Phase 2 at 2-week intervals. If you need 3 LaserLyte Peels then Phase 3 will not begin until 5-6 months.

While the LaserLyte Liftâ?¢ takes time it is the only method of facial rejuvenation to actively treat all three layers of the skin and thus the only method to achieve effective facial rejuvenation non-surgically. In fact, the LaserLyte Liftâ?¢ achieves more thorough facial rejuvenation than a surgical face-lift. A surgical face-lift only tightens the skin, after a surgical face-lift you have tight “old” skin. The LaserLyte Liftâ?¢ renews and rejuvenates all three skin layers, thus when you are finished your face truly looks younger, and remember, you are avoiding surgery and its dangers and discomfort. More importantly you are achieving true facial rejuvenation with wrinkle removal and new collagen, which plumps and tightens your skin to a truly youthful appearance.

As technology advances we undoubtedly will be able to achieve results is less time. However at present the LaserLyte Lift is the only method for rejuvenation of all three skin layers and it takes several months to achieve a good result.

For some people with very severe aging plastic surgery will be the best option, either in the form of a face-lift or laser resurfacing or both.

But for the vast majority of my patients who I see daily in my practice the LaserLyte Liftâ?¢ is an excellent way to achieve true facial rejuvenation without surgery a real “non-surgical” face-lift, with results you can see. No face cream, diet, laser, IPL, or other technology alone can achieve as good a result.

If you start before you have severe aging changes you will likely never need to have a face-lift.

All writers, graduate students, and professors know that they’re supposed to write on a daily basis, or at least as frequently as possible. (If you aren’t aware of this fact, read this article on my site: http://WriteDaily.notlong.com.) Despite this knowledge, most find it difficult to maintain a regular writing habit.

I’m frequently asked for tips on how to make yourself write, even when you don’t feel like it (which for many, is most of the time!)

What is the One Way That’s Guaranteed to Work?

Sorry! There’s no one correct method. And what works for you now may not work at some other time.

So I’ve listed a bunch of ideas below. Just pick what feels right for you, tweak it if necessary, and see what works!

How to Write Right Now

1. Start with right now. Don’t beat yourself up about what you didn’t do yesterday. Don’t think about how much you have to do by Friday or next month. Just do what you need to do at this very moment.

2. Change your writing format. If you’re used to typing, try longhand. This can be very freeing. Or print out your previous writing, and cut and paste it onto index cards in order to organize your thinking.

3. Remove yourself from all normal temptations, such as email and telephones. You can combine this with the previous tip. I notice that I get a lot done when I’m on a plane or in a waiting room. I have a notebook with me, and I start jotting down my thoughts, and sometimes I’m more prolific than when I’m in front of my laptop!

4. Use a timer. When you turn it on, you know that you can’t do anything else but write. No email, no Internet, no phone. The upside is that you know that when the timer goes off, you can stop writing, and do more enjoyable activities. Try setting the timer for short periods of time and then taking a break; say 30 minutes on and 10 minutes off. You can use the timer to time your breaks, also.

5. Sign up for my newsletter and receive the “Academic Writer’s Block Wizard.” Pull it out and use it when you’re stuck!

How to Set Up a Regular Writing Habit

1. Always write first thing in the morning, before showering or reading the paper (caffeine optional.) If you’re not a morning person, pick another regular time.

2. At the end of each writing session, make a note as to what you will start with next time.

3. Have a special place where you always write. Set it up with everything you need, and if possible, don’t use this space for other purposes.

4. Focus on the amount of time spent writing (or trying to write!) Don’t focus on number or words, paragraphs or pages produced. What counts is the regular habit of thinking. Some days will be fruitful and others won’t. It all counts as long as you put the time in.

5. Track your progress. This might take the form of an ongoing chart that shows how much you’ve written daily, a journal, or a graph. One creative client of mine has developed a nice technique. Whenever she sits down to write, she lights a candle. This is a signal that she is not “allowed” to do anything but work on her writing. A nice touch is that she’s saved all the matches that she’s used to light these “writing candles.” The matches show her how much work she’s actually put into writing.

6. Put writing time into your calendar or daytimer as if it were an appointment. When others ask if you’re busy then, you can honestly say, “Yes.”

7. Keep a running list of points that you want to cover in your work. It doesn’t have to be an elaborate outline. Then when you’re stuck, you can go to your list. It feels good to check each item off as you cover it.

8. Find a writing buddy. Agree that you will each write at the same time each day. You can make this a more firm agreement by calling, writing, or instant messaging each other before or after you work.

Try one or more of these techniques – I’m sure one will be helpful. Just remember that the most important step is sitting down to write!
