Author: I have to write a science fiction or a fantasy storie. I don’t read much sci-fi or fantasy books so i don’t really have any ideas. I’m in 6th grade and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

Think about something that involves a forty-year old guy masquerading as a 6th grader. That should be easy for you.
Using a time travel theme you could go back in time to participate in any historical event you like or travel into the future and write about the differences to present day life.
First of all, you should look at this like an exercise in imagination. In sci-fi/fantasy, the only rules are the rules YOU make up. In other words, toasters don’t talk to each other normally, but in YOUR story they certainly could. Dragons don’t exist normally, but in YOUR story they can. Heck, combine the 2 and make fire-breathing toaster/dragons!!
The idea is that you are completely free to make up whatever you want…as long as it stays SORT OF believable. For example, fire-breathing toaster/dragons are a LITTLE out there, but you could make them MORE believable by telling readers that these things were the robotic offspring of flamethrowers and toaster ovens back in the machine revolution of 2092…WHATEVER YOU WANT!!!
Use your imagination to create a little world of your own and populate it with creatures, people, and things of your own choosing. Then, just see what happens in your mind’s eye next…hope this helps…
