Question: How do you feel about self-aware fiction?
“Self-aware fiction” meaning fiction that references the fact that it is fictional. It may just hint at this idea or it may be a major plot point, but the characters/narrator/description/etc seem to have some idea that they may not be “real” in the strictest sense.

Metafiction? It’s cool.
Question: What do you think about Christian fiction?
I have some issues with Christian fiction. Most of it is poorly written. It can get preachy sometimes and then I feel guilty for not enjoying the book, which leads me to wonder if Christian fiction is kind of an oxymoron. Do books written by a Christian from a Christian worldview (but not necessarily about Christians) count as “Christian fiction”? Can anyone give examples of what they consider to be quality Christian fiction?

The Bible….A century ago, mythicist Albert Churchward said, “The
canonical gospels can be shown to be a collection of
sayings from the Egyptian Mythos and Eschatology.”8 In
Forgery in Christianity, Joseph Wheless states, “The
gospels are all priestly forgeries over a century after their
pretended dates.”9 Those who concocted some of the
hundreds of “alternative” gospels and epistles that were
being kicked about during the first several centuries C.E.
have even admitted that they had forged the documents.10
Forgery during the first centuries of the Church’s
existence was admittedly rampant, so common in fact that
a new phrase was coined to describe it: “pious fraud.”
Question: Questions about the book “The Right Stuff” by Tom Wolfe?
How did you like it?
Do you think that a 13 year old could read this book?
Is it written in sort of a “fiction” format (such as not just stating facts, but telling a story) or is it completly non-fiction?
Thanks!

Answer by ArmsAndMan
Yes, I think you’d enjoy it. Tom Wolfe (not to be confused with the earlier novelist Thomas Wolfe) is a journalist who has parlayed his successful reporting into a career writing fiction. “The Right Stuff” is based on fact, but presented as a novel, both in style and substance. It may be his best book.
Question: I am having trouble remembering the name of an “African American fiction” novel i read about 6-7 yrs ago?
in the story i remember a woman having sex with a man on valentine’s day and later finding out that she is pregnant. she is a teacher at some sort of private school and when she has a parent teacher meeting for an obnoxious child the man she slept with turns out to be the child’s father and HE IS MARRIED. the woman eventually leaves this job and finds a new one where she makes new and supportive friends (one being a man who thinks he’s some kind of player and himself the unborn child’s godfather) later on it turns out that the child’s father is a drug dealer or something of that sort. also throughout the story the woman has a friend or ex (not sure) who she is close with and also supports her through all her drama and who she probably ends up with in the end (can’t remember)… Any help??? lol

Question: DAN BROWN said that his books are “fiction”. What if I will make a novel about his wife being RAPED?
Would he like it?
Or his children being raped also.
Well, that is just a fiction.:)
A novel. lol
SERIOUSLY:
I hope you get my point.
Dan Brown uses “real” and “sensitive” things which he uses for his profit like the Church, Mary, the Opus Dei and even Jesus Christ.
Fabricating the truth and making his “own” story.
He will the call it “a novel”.
This man made his own living out of his deceptions.
Can he make a good book which can inspire every reader to be just, righteous and a bettr person?
Why lies?
Simply because “attacking the Church and Christ is a strong business”.

Question: Question about the movie “Pulp Fiction”?
Ok, I’ve had a lot of friends recommend this movie to me because I like movies like Memento, The Machinist, Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 11:14, etc. I’m actually watching this movie at the moment and am about half way in, and I have to admit that I’m bored to death. My question is…..If I don’t like it by this far, should I keep watching? I mean some movies I’ve seen are pretty boring in the beginning, but they do redeem themselves by the end. Is this one of those or do you think I probably just won’t like it?

One of the best things about hte CIA is that they allow “Jane/Joe Public” access to the CIA Worldbook. Pick a place, a time and the CIA Worldbook is a great source of credible factual information. Besides the CIA World Book, I purchased “The History of Jamaica” at a Target department store in Texas. Barnes and Noble, and all of the bigger bookstores carry the same book, which covers the period you are looking at. Between the two you’ll have a wealth of knowledge at your disposal. A lot of interesting items/ history in old Jamaica. Good luck with your novel.
