Is it okay to ask my college teacher to write a recommendation letter for another college?

I go to Columbia College and I want to switch my major from Fiction Writing to French. They don’t have French at Columbia, so I am applying elsewhere. Is it okay to ask my french teacher at Columbia to write me a recommendation letter for another college?

Does anyone know of some good books (fiction or nonfiction) about college life?

I am preparing for college and would enjoy reading some books on college life, sororities, academics, etc. I don’t mind if they are fiction or non-fiction, as long as they interesting reads. So far I have read “I am Charlot Simmons” and “Catcher in the Rye”. Does anyone have any good suggestions.

What is a good college major for a fiction writer…like something other than English?

How many fiction books is too many to take to college?

I’m off to college next year! I love to read and wanted to know how many books, at maximum, you think I should take. I’ll be living in an average size dorm at the University of Texas at Austin.
