Question: The epitome of the dangers of consuming marijuana.(Long, first hand, unique, essay format.)?
8/7/11
I havent edited this in any way since last night. any abstract way of thinking conveyed in this this was solely caused by me being fucking blasted.
…its fucking weird when you finish. And remember this is a message i sent to my friend on facebook.
enjoy:

the entire thing was in response to your questions: “whatever that means” and “make me understand” to my brain spark extention: “which makes me wonder if theres something like a developmental instinct influencing you to make sense when your thought process is reaching its full potential. like living the language made me develop some crazy ability to be able to spit my thoughts without stopping when my brain starts actually being utilized to a point near its full potential. So the remains of my eccentric self indulgence actually make sense to my normal critical self. who’s of course trying to find fault in all my ideas..”

but that was actually in response to this innocent, yet ominously, titanic legend inspiring memories of a gleaming iceaberg tip: “whenever i write something long and weird when im high and i go back and read it i get mad confused at like 6 points and always have to stop and re read something but then after i finally catch up to it and understand it it, it normally turns out making sense.”

so the entire things goes like this:

begging:
“whenever i write something long and weird when im high and i go back and read it i get mad confused at like 6 points and always have to stop and re read something but then after i finally catch up to it and understand it it, it normally turns out making sense.”

middle:
“which makes me wonder if theres something like a developmental instinct influencing you to make sense when your thought process is reaching its full potential. like living the language made me develop some crazy ability to be able to spit my thoughts without stopping when my brain starts actually being utilized to a point near its full potential. So the remains of my eccentric self indulgence actually make sense to my normal critical self. who’s of course trying to find fault in all my ideas..”

ending:
“but on the last thing i said: I guess an analogy for it would be how you feel on adrenalin well actually not how you feel, ignore how adrenal makes you feel. But what it actually does, it makes you perform at your best right? It puts you into a state of mind that millions of years of evolutions attests to as equipped to handle a situation where life of death can live in details and seconds. but instead of the extremely physical and obvious feeling of adrenaline, imagine something harder to realize is taking control and when you’re having really abstract ideas it lets you convey them in such a way that you can re-read and understand what you meant, without extreme effort. And because its just an instinct you develop over years of experience with societal, conversational norms and common spoken tendencies it wouldn’t be as immediately noticible the way adrenaline shakes you awake, because its not actually releasing anything into your brain. its just the way your brain has adapted to the majorities language comprehension and is more like a pavlonian dog type thing where the dog hears the bell and recieves food 19 times and the twentieth time he hears the bell and recieves no food, but his mouth still waters profusely. like a trained by all your life experience knee jerk reaction”

…why the fuck is this shit illegal? Anything in today’s society that can cause someone to put as much thought into something as i did into that last night should never, ever be considered the stigma that marijuana is. societies general views and expectations will turn us all to copies.

Answer:

Answer by Houston, we have a problem
- It’s illegal because this is a democratic society, and this society chooses to make it so. What is your philosophy question?

Question: Help!. I have to write a comparison/contrast essay of “Pulp Fiction” and “Clockwork Organge”
What are some of the similarities and differences? Can anyone help figure this out, I suck at writing.
oops my bad, I should have mentioned that I have seen both movies and the assignment is to write of “thematic of violence” in each movies.

Answer:

Answer by Hugo B
I do think that before you get down to writing you should see the films, and find out for yourself what do they have in common.

Then I would just go and get some info over the time when both films where made, who directed them, what is their nationality, an take a quick glance at surrounding historical events.

Then do some thinkin’ and you will be ready to write.. just remember a good text is in some way like a tale, so you should really pay attention to the structure of your essay. Every single thing you open for comparison or analysis should be closed before you close your essay; but that somehow also depends on what is the your final thought over the theme.

You can also read about Kubrick and Tarantino as directors and then use more info to really render a good essay…

everything else is your thing…

Question by Nathan: What’s a good thesis statement for a history essay on slavery and abolition?
First off, may I say that I don’t need any factual help on slavery and abolition; I’ve been studying up on it for months. My problem is solely with coming up with a compelling (or even usable!) thesis statement for the essay I’m writing.

I’m working on a slavery/abolition essay, which I can write no problem by the deadline at midnight — but what I really need is a thesis statement. My main problem is that It has to be in the form of an argument, but I don’t know how to argue about something as factually and morally clear-cut as the wrongness of slavery and the rightness of abolitionist thinking. Here is my instructor’s guidance:

1. Examine the institution of slavery in the United States and the abolition movement that followed it.

– Discuss the effect of slavery on society in the North and South, the slaves, and the slave-owning families

– Examine the major motives and basic arguments for the abolition movement and the outcome for slaves and women.

Under “tips,” she writes:

- Your thesis statement must be a point that is going to guide your whole paper and is an argument.

- Provide specific examples to back up your ideas. Make sure that you then explain why those specific examples back up your argument.

Can anyone sling some quick or free-form ideas on what angle I can take in presenting this information? Thank you.

Perhaps how the blacs were the obvious slaves, but how the owners were also slaves to an institution that brutalized them all

I’m supposed to write an essay on the genre of this book (The Compound) and I was wondering how I should start it? No questions for the beginning, please. Nothing immature like “ZOOM!” please too. The genre of this story is science fiction.
Thanks in advance.

It’s a dream sequence:

A heavy tide of mist and fog, flowing like waves, caressed the young woman lightly in a comforting blanket of gentle wind. She drifted weightlessly in a state of euphoria and warmth, her long burgundy hair floating freely about her delicate face.

(NOT SURE WHAT TO PUT HERE), hearing soft piano notes playing faintly in the distance. It was an enchanting song, though indescribably haunting in nature, as if the person playing longed for something.

Soon, she breathed in the scent of fresh earth, and the soothing melody of piano notes was joined by the steady fall of rain. The fog thinned, though didn’t lift entirely, revealing a hillside on which stood a small cabin.

Okay . . . would you be able to tell it’s a dream sequence if I hadn’t said so? What do you think of the style in general? What should I put before the piano music? What word can I use besides “weightlessly” – it’s just so technical. Tell me what you think.

Thanks!
