In fiction writing, can I separate the text with three asterisks?

As a teenager, I dated infrequently.
(If this narration goes on for pages, do I enclose each paragraph in quotes?)
I usually do well on essays but I’m having a hard time writing a 4 page essay in this literature class I’m in. I have never been asked to write a 4 page essay only a page and half to 2 pages. Any Assistance?
