whatever it was had a very bright glow to it because when john travolta opend it a bright glow illuminated his face, the combination lock on the brief case was 666 but other than that it gave no clue as to what was in the case

I read at wikipedia that that is the reason why Marcellus wore sunglasses before having the briefcase as the Eye is a window for the soul. If that is so, how did he appear in the scence with butch wihtout his sunglasses? another question, if the People Vincent and Jules killed at the begining of the movie (brett, and the other dudes in the appartenment) are considered the devil’s associates, when Jules asked brett (the guy sitting by the table, who jules talked to) if he read the bible, how did he say yes?
note: the scene with butch I am talking about is the first one, the one he was making the deal with him in
