Question: My “fiction” professor says the time period in “To Kill a Mocking Bird” could be anytime. True?
I think he is wrong. It sound to me like the depression to me which would be about the same time the author was the narrator’s age.

What do you think?
Women could vote in 1919. Obviously women then could vote in the 40′s.

How many years would someone have to go to college to become a college professor? What is the degree called?

This is for a fiction character.

I’ve taught full-time as an English professor at a university–both literature and creative writing. I have a Ph.D. and have published fiction and essays. I want to get a way from the phoney-baloney world of academia. I know teaching in a private high school that has high standards might not be the solution, but I’d like to give it a try. How do I go about seeking jobs in this field?

Choose two works from one of the “genre” groups (fiction, poetry, drama). You will be required to write a “comparison and contrast” research paper composition. The tentative thesis statement emailed to me on the due date should reveal that you have at least scratched the surface of a topic to determine it’s topography and where you would like to “land”.

A biography would be a good choice as he wants non-fiction, no autobiographies/biographies by/on still living individuals; no how to/DIY books; etc. Any suggestions? The total pages we have to read is 1000. Not necessarily just one book. My first choice is Japan’s War by Edwin Hoyt. I just need a shorter book to complete the 1000 page requirement. He will orally quiz us one on one. Thank you!
