Question: What does “pulp” means?
NOT “pulp fiction”, but the word “pulp”. Is it the small flesh of the apple or the flesh mashed? I had this lab in biology where we put enzymes on apple slices and one of them turned really brown because one of the enzyme was catecholase. A question on my discussion question asked “if the experiment was done on the pulp of apples rater than apple slices, would the reaction be faster or slower?”. I think it would be faster because the subtrate would be smaller in size, therefore the reaction would be faster. Help!!!

Question: Am I the only one who didn’t like “Pulp Fiction”? Please tell me I’m not?

Answer:

Answer by William D
I did like the movie, but it is not as great as many people claim it to be.

I like how the movie jumps from one time to another it makes you think. Then the second time you watch it you can put it all together.

Question: Question about the movie “Pulp Fiction”?
Ok, I’ve had a lot of friends recommend this movie to me because I like movies like Memento, The Machinist, Donnie Darko, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 11:14, etc. I’m actually watching this movie at the moment and am about half way in, and I have to admit that I’m bored to death. My question is…..If I don’t like it by this far, should I keep watching? I mean some movies I’ve seen are pretty boring in the beginning, but they do redeem themselves by the end. Is this one of those or do you think I probably just won’t like it?

It all comes together in the last 10 minutes or so. Keep watching.

Question: Was “Pulp Fiction” considered mainstream or indie when it came out?
Yeah it was nominated
but for that time 1994, the content was still considered too explicit for just the R rating, and the movie was still underground in many aspects.
That kinda movie became real mainstream in the 2000s, don’t get me wrong.
And the culture of “Pulp Fiction” is more like today’s culture–21st century culture, than 1990s culture when it came out.
Except for the technology
But the constant cursing is so like 2005, 2010 kinda culture

I don’t think society was ready to accept that kinda movie
Which could be why it lost the Academy Award for Best Picture

BTW, wasn’t this movie NC-17 originally?
Oh really,
but isn’t “Pulp Fiction” more like art indie movies instead?

Answer:

Answer by Miniver
Mainstream, it was widely advertised and was the top grossing film at the box office in its first weekend. I believe it was released with an R rating. It was ahead of its time, but was a throwback to 60s-70s genre. It’s definitely an artsie movie because of the chronology of events, but not all artistic movies are independent.
