Question: How close to our real lives can fiction be?
“Truth is stranger than fiction.” This is *the* reference quote for most folks but, what purpose does it serve other than just sounding good?

I think stories no matter how reality-based will remain stories. In fiction, everything has a reason- someone’s death, someone’s success, someone’s pain… The writer has to justify nearly everything in a story.

Can it be compared to real lives where things have no reason or order…. or do they?

P.S. I just made up this question after reading the preface of a story book. I hope you like the question.

Question: Are these electronic cigarettes for real?
I keep seeing ads for this American Blue Tip electronic cigarette, claiming (1) there’s no tobacco, (2) there’s no harmful chemicals, and (3) you can use it in public places.

I tried doing some research online to get more proof on whether or not there are chemicals (for either the smoker or in the air for secondhand) and also if it really would be allowed in public places. Granted, I searched “American Blue Tip”, not “electronic cigarettes”, but every site that popped up was a positive review that sounded like it was written by the same professional marketer that wrote the TV ad.

So, what’s the deal here. Are these claims true? It’s supposed to just be water vapor, right? So how can smokers get the same “fix” that they want from a regular cigarette? And is there really no harm to others who are nearby when someone smokes one of these things?

Some links to websites with your answers would be appreciated.
READ THE QUESTION! I know they exist, I’m asking about the claims they make.

They are real. I saw them at a kiosk at the mall where I live (San Diego). I can’t remember what they were called, but I glanced at the cash register and the last amount that was rung up was $ 200. I don’t really know anything else about it, but there may be some cartridge or something you put in it for the nicotine. I’m totally guessing on that, but it seemed logical.

Question: The movie “Pulp Fiction” famously features a paraphrase of Ezekiel 25:17, can you quote me the real passage
I’m just interested to compare it to the movie version. I know some of you are thinking “Which bible?” Well to be honest, whichever one you would like to use.

There you go, Christian friends, a question where someone actually *wants* you to quote biblical verse :-)
The full “passage” in the movie is

“The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.”

I guess Ezekiel 25:17 verbatim is just the last bit.

Question: Are works of fiction, “just fiction” as some say, or are there always real ideas behind fictional stories?

I totally agree and feel the people who say this kind of thing don’t really understand literature.

Answer by Persiphone_Hellecat
An author always has a meaning or a reason for writing a novel or any work of fiction – and there are always the author’s ideas behind the work. That is like asking if a magician really does magic or is it just illusion.
