Question by B: Who are some literary authors who were (in their own time) considered “popular fiction”?
Can anybody help me out? I need to think of some fictional authors who are now considered part of the canon/considered to be “high-brow”: but were (when they were alive) considered popular?
Just realised the question doesn’t make sense: i mean:
Who are some literary authors “who were (in their own time) considered WRITERS OF popular fiction?
Thanks!

Agatha Christie.
Maybe Tolkien or C.S. Lewis?

I’m trying to think of some good posters to put in my dorm room next year. So far I’ve got some Boondock Saints, Pulp Fiction, etc. But I want some funny ones and some sexy ones too, so if you can provide a picture of the best one you get 10 points just like that.
I’m a junior, who is just beginning to look into colleges. While I’m not at all sure what I want to focus on in college, one of my interests is in English (and particularly creative writing, fiction and non-fiction) and I was wondering what small liberal arts colleges were strong in this area…
I’d like books that are related to teenagers, scifi/fiction and really I’m really up to giving any book a chance. Also, I am an AVID Twilight fan like anyone else in the world and world like to look into similiar books. I’m currently reading “The Host,” by Stephenie Meyer.
Fiction please. My neice is starting high school and her first project is to read a fiction book and do a report on it.
She doesn’t like to read, but she can and doesn’t have problems with the vocab or anything.
What are some good books she could read and get intrested in? I’d perfer her to read some classics as well, but she doesn’t like Toni Morrison. She perfers the work of Betty Smith and Janet Fitch.
