Question: Do you think there’s a maximum “shelf life” for cult films?
Maybe it’s just the people I hang around with, but it seems like the appeal of some films – “Fight Club” and the “Big Lebowski” come to mind – are tailing off. “Pulp Fiction” still seems to get watched (and sometimes even “Army of Darkness.”)

And is anybody still doing the Time Warp?

I don’t think so…they’re classics to me.

My favs are the old Kevin Smith Movies (especially Clerks).

Question: What do you think the main difference is in fantasy fiction over adventure fiction?
Once you introduce a paranormal element, is it no longer to be classified as “adventure fiction”? If you know your stuff, please say so. If you want to quess, or even have a strong opinion, you’re welcome to answer, but I especially want to hear from those in the know.

Answer:

Answer by MOM KNOWS EVERYTHING
I think a little paranormal element can be contained in adventure fiction, (ESP, ghosts to a limited degree, “possession”) but once you get into truly “unreal” subject matter (dragons, wizards, time travel, the distant future, etc.) it becomes “fantasy” because there isn’t any reality base anymore.

Question: What do you think about Christian fiction?
I have some issues with Christian fiction. Most of it is poorly written. It can get preachy sometimes and then I feel guilty for not enjoying the book, which leads me to wonder if Christian fiction is kind of an oxymoron. Do books written by a Christian from a Christian worldview (but not necessarily about Christians) count as “Christian fiction”? Can anyone give examples of what they consider to be quality Christian fiction?

The Bible….A century ago, mythicist Albert Churchward said, “The
canonical gospels can be shown to be a collection of
sayings from the Egyptian Mythos and Eschatology.”8 In
Forgery in Christianity, Joseph Wheless states, “The
gospels are all priestly forgeries over a century after their
pretended dates.”9 Those who concocted some of the
hundreds of “alternative” gospels and epistles that were
being kicked about during the first several centuries C.E.
have even admitted that they had forged the documents.10
Forgery during the first centuries of the Church’s
existence was admittedly rampant, so common in fact that
a new phrase was coined to describe it: “pious fraud.”

Question: Who do you think were the first writers of the Bible? Black, white, “other”, or a “combo” of races?
(I just asked this in the Cultures & Groups section. But this section is probably more appropriate, so I’m re-posting it here.)

—————————-

(WRITERS– not storytellers, translators, etc… I’m talking about the people who first used the written word of any language to document the old and new testaments of the Bible.)

Explain your position. And please don’t get pissy with me. I haven’t even shared my opinion on the subject….. yet.

Thanks, y’all. ?

Oh, and I’m not asking anything regarding fact vs. fiction.

Feel free to give any details leading up to what you think is the first composition of Bible books and the first formation of the Bible itself (or each testament separately).

I’m just curious about your opinions.

“Oh, and I’m not asking anything regarding fact vs. fiction.” —-Sorry, when I said that, I should have said “fact vs. fiction regarding the accounts written about in the Bible.” I apologize.

Well in the Book of Numbers one of those apposing Moses is an Ethiopian (Black) woman married to an Israelite.
Moses is married to a Shulamite (Thought to be black but no proof either Way.) or a Midianite (Arab) I can’t remember.
I think there are 600,000 foot solders in the camp (Males 20 years and up.) And their number is estimated at 3 Million or so total. Factor this into that they have been in Egypt for 400 years and I would say it is likely that they were of many ethnic back grounds. Moreover, The tribes that descended from Joseph =Ephraim and Manasseh were name after Josephs two sons-Both 1/2 Egyptian and 1/2 Syrian (Hebrew=Herdsman) and Israel was only 70+ people 400 years earlier so they had to be other races.

On another point:
The Idear that the bible (namly the O.T.) was an oral history that predated writing or the Hebrews ability to write is a relitivly modern idear which weather true or fale is completly speculative. If you beleive the text it states that it was writen at the time by Moses (We can give the benifit of the doubt in that he didn’t write about his own death.) this is implisted and no a controdiction but rather a samantical argument and an unfair one. One way to know for is to find the arch of the testamony for the torah is said to be writed on a skin inside of it. (Its sealed in a gold inlayed box- in one of natures most archyalogicaly hopitable regions on earth.)
P.S. I trust the whole book from Gen-Rev, no doubts here-Amen.

The writers should submit these to TV shows. Mail a copy to oneself in case you want to date the time you wrote it. Might be accepted. Why not devise your own characters and stories?
That way, not plagerizing in any fashion. Modifications to characters and settings can make it mostly “original”. Anybody can get inspired by a work be it painting or writing but getting too close is plagerism and a crime.

Question: In the Movie “Pulp Fiction”, what do you think the Mysterious Brief case contained and why?

The most common answer for this question is Marcellus’s Soul. I read at wikipedia that that is the reason why Marcellus wore sunglasses before having the briefcase as the Eye is a window for the soul. If that is so, how did he appear in the scence with butch wihtout his sunglasses? another question, if the People Vincent and Jules killed at the begining of the movie (brett, and the other dudes in the appartenment) are considered the devil’s associates, when Jules asked brett (the guy sitting by the table, who jules talked to) if he read the bible, how did he say yes?
note: the scene with butch I am talking about is the first one, the one he was making the deal with him in

Question: Do you think the story “My Immortal” (not to be confused with the song) is a parody of bad fan fiction?
Tara Gallibsie was the creator of the infamously awful fan fiction “My Immortal.” I personally am pretty sure she is a troll because no one can write that bad seriously. If you haven’t read it, read it. It’s very funny. It’s a version of Hogwarts where most of the main characters are bisexual, poseur gothic vampires. It chronicles the life of Ebony Raven Darkness Way, a slutty baby bat who is in a love pentagon between Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy, Haggard, and Voldemort, as she goes to various concerts of bad pop rock bands, gets spied on by the gay, pedophilic lovers Snape and Lupin, and has very badly written sex scenes. This is the funniest thing I have read in a while due to its sheer stupidity. You can find some quotes and a summary on Encyclopedia Dramatica. Anyway, do you think this is a parody or it really is just an epic failure.

Answer:

Answer by FabbityFabFabME
LMAO. I have never read, or heard of the story and could not locate it (I did find many, MANY parodies though) Generally, if it is a parody it will be classified as one and the author will have author’s notes stating so. So although this sounds like it has to be a parody it was likely written by a confused teenage girl which all tend to be crap. Even more so in this case. My vote is for EPIC FAIL.

ps. if you have link to it I’m just dying to read it. It’s gained quite the amount of publicity.
